A loosely related interesting finding:

In short: this research showed that while schizophrenics may very well be impaired in practical reasoning, they perform at least as well as neurotypicals on theoretical reasoning tasks. I.e.: when a counterintuitive conclusion follows from the premises presented, the schizophrenics were more likely to draw the valid conclusion than neurotypicals are; for the latter, it seems common sense knowledge overrules logical reasoning. This makes one question whether delusions are merely the result of pure reasoning deficiencies.
