Jonathan, are you awake yet?

It’s the middle of the night here and my daughter just woke me up with a call and I can’t get back to sleep and I’m used to seeing you whenever I get up around 2am.

Yes. I’m up (and have been for a while).

Did the call of your daughter upset you?

yes. She was yelling at me for not telling her what mail she had. But I was telling her the best I could, it’s just I was being slow because I just woke up.

It’s common courtesy to not call people at night (and to not yell!).

You could ask her that she texts you during the night time and that you will respond when you wake up.

Sound sleep is important for your health.

good advice. Thank you.

How are you this morning?

I got up really early at 1 am. But slept one extra hour between 7 and 8 am. It’s 8:45 am now.

I mostly spend some time on this forum. Had breakfast.

I slept with the heating slightly on, which I normally don’t do. But it is freezing cold here.

Thanks for asking.

Are you planning to go back to bed or are you up for the day?

jeez, it must be really cold.

Oh, I’ll most likely go back to bed, but I don’t know when. I can put on Christmas music and wrap presents if I want to.

It’s -6°C or 21°F this morning. Which is as cold as it gets here.

I hope you can get some more rest or sleep.

Thank you. You are such a nice person.

It’s -3 c here. We are having a heatwave, lol. We have been getting the -10 c to - 15 c temps lately so -3 feels like shorts and tank top weather.

My dad lived 2 years in Toronto and when he got back he would wear T-shirts in the winter here and people would watch him funnily.

I’m not a big fan of extreme temperatures and when it freezes or gets very hot in summer I stay mostly indoors.

I’m not very hearty and don’t like temp fluctuations much. But I am able to tolerate cold a little better than heat. I think the extra weight helps to insulate some of the cold. It has been the coldest year I remember having since I’ve been here, about 19 years now. Just crazy cold, on and on, day after day. It only warms up to snow.

I forgot if you live in Canada or the US. What state are you from?

I am in the US and I do live in California but I don’t have California weather. I live high up in the mountains on a small desert.

Now I remember. You posted some pictures of the snow and the tree across the street.

I was once in California when I was 10 years old. We travelled from San Fran to LA by car. It was in August and I remember it being really hot.

Oh, yes. It would have been.

You live in Belgium? or? I can’t remember. What brought you to Cali?

Yes I do. Belgian all the way.

I was on holiday with my parents, sister and cousin. We first went to Washington state, then flew to SF and rented a car and travelled to LA, Las Vegas, The canyons and Salt Lake City.

It was the furthest I had ever travelled. I remember really liking Santa Barbara in California and Universal Studios in LA.

That’s one of the things I really like about the States. The beautiful nature. Something to be proud of and to treasure.

Well, that’s a nice compliment. I appreciate all the beautiful places I’ve seen here too and I’ve not traveled very much. I’ve lived in some beautiful places. Right now I live in one of the most beautiful places I can imagine. The big sky, the sprawling desert stacked with all the different hues that each season brings, the snow and ice displays in the winter, within a short distance the lava beds, a national forest, a bird refuge, I’m in paradise.
