Is there a drug for boosting white cells so I can start clozapine

I have a a blood test acoule of years ago just prior to atarting clozapine. The results were a dissapointment I have a low white count probably ccaused by the clopixol depot that I was on at the time. My CPN told me this week that there is a drug they can give me that wil boost my white cell count

I really want to try clozapine as it is my last chance to get rid of these voices

There is always hope. Try not to think of it as a last chance.

There is a drug that will do that but there’s a chance you might be in excruciating pain (like rolling on the floor screaming). I know someone who was given that as a part of his chemo treatment for lymphoma and that’s what happened to them. Some have that reaction and others don’t, there might be an alternative to that too, I’m not sure. If you can get on clozapine it’ the only med that ever did anything for me, it tends to work for non-responders to the other meds like me.

You shouldn’t need to boost white cells. Most people are unaffected in this manner. Your more immediate concerns will be fatigue, hunger, and weight gain. Suggest getting ahead of that by planning improved nutrition and exercise to counter the effects of the Clozapine. That, and don’t skip blood tests as that’s where you’ll get into trouble if there is any.

Good luck!

try Invega instead.

As far as I know my son was put on Lithium for this reason so that he could start Clozapine.
