Is paranoia always a delusion?

I have the opposite impression — that she is trying to convince herself that she is not ill.

@Crystal-Cotton I really think that you should listen to your doctors. If you have an illness (whether sz or any other illness), ignoring that fact does not change it. All it does is stop you from getting the help that you need to treat or manage the illness.

i know my diagnosis is wrong but i need to act like i accept it

Well you’re still young. One day you’ll have to accept it

I just wish someone could tell me with 100% certainty if I’m sz or not

Have you asked your doctors if they are certain of the diagnosis?

Are you still hospitalized or were you released?

I was released last week

Also they say they’re pretty sure but idk I doubt it because I don’t have any of the hallmarks for sz

In psychiatry, paranoia used to mean nothing more and nothing less than delusion (from the greek ‘para noesis’ which means something like ‘contrary to knowledge’). ‘Paranoid delusion’ would be a pleonasm back then, like ‘round circle’. As with other psychiatric terms like depressed, etc, it became colloquial to speak of paranoid feelings that resemble suspiciousness, which in turn resembles the most common form of paranoia (that is: delusion), namely persecutory delusions.

We are all unique and sz can present differently. Does it even matter fully? If the meds help, then just try to live your life and not worry so much about a diagnosis. It’s not meant to be an identity

Well they also work on anxiety?

I just want to know if it’s worth staying on the meds for life or not

You’re young give it time. You’ll figure it out.

idk the doctors scare me because they say sz causes brain damage but idk if i even have it

If you’re afraid of sz causing brain damage stay on meds. Best advice I can give. I ■■■■■■ around and found that one out myself. Now I don’t even question it anymore, I need my meds to feel even remotely stable. If you question sz so severe that you off meds yet you’re afraid of the sz causing brain damage I’m unsure what to say beyond that. Stay on meds.
