There’s preliminary evidence that it may help, but no large, controlled studies.

It’s unlikely to hurt, though.

I have been doing biofeedback for 12 years. It is similar to neurofeedback, but measures brain temperature instead of brainwaves. I absolutely love it for my migraines, OCD, and anxiety. I used to have OCD so bad I was frequently hospitalized for it, but I couldn’t take medication for it because it made me psychotic. The effects of biofeedback were immediate for me, and have only gotten better over time. I now no longer even qualify for an OCD diagnosis because I’m so in control of myself. I just do fifteen minutes on my biofeedback machine once a week.

It did not help me with delusions or hallucinations. I take medication for those symptoms. It did help with paranoia.

The main downside is the cost. I was lucky enough to have purchased my own device back when it was still covered by insurance. Nowadays, going to a practitioner is about $100 pet visit and buying a machine can cost up to $5,000. Some practitioners let you pay on a sliding scale, or offer scholarships.

I’ve never tried that, so I can’t say. You could contact a practitioner in your area and ask for more information.
