I googled it and apparently and island called Kiribati celebrates it first along with Samoa and Tonga!

We rent the largest airplane that can fly at least 1,050 MPH. We depart Karibati at midnight and fly west.

We’re going to celebrate New Year’s Eve 24 times (actually more).

@PatrickT I’ll be in bed early like usual. It’s been pretty bland around here lately and I haven’t been woken up the last couple of years by young hooligans having fun! If the spaceship was operational you’d be on the pickup list…unfortunately we must can this years festivities as I will be in the glories of zyprexa sleep at midnight eastern daylight time!

On the eve of the year 2000, the y2k scare was all the rage for those who remember…computers would malfunction…blackouts…overall mayhem would ensue.

So we’re all at my buddy’s place doing the countdown to the new Century…3…2…and then BLAM! All of the power in the house shuts down and everything goes black and quiet. We were all drunk and yelled out “IT’s Y2K!!!”

My buddy and his wife had gone down to the basement and hit the breaker switch that powered the house!

To this day, I call it ‘the Gag of the Century’… :wink:
