She said a Muslim greeting but I didn’t know the proper response. I looked it up and the pronunciation I just listened to seems hard for me. I’ll try to learn it though in case it happens again. I live very close to a mosque so there’s a lot of Muslims near me.

I tried to learn Arabic writing when I was trying to be Muslim. Hard stuff. At least for me. The words are written from right to left instead of left to right.
If I remember correctly the correct response to A ssalama Laikum (spelling?) is Wa ailakam salaam. (spelling). The first one means something like “Peace be upon you” and the second means pretty much “and peace to you as well”
or something to that effect. Im sure you can look up the spellings yourself. No way for me to pronounce it for you here, though.

Yeah, I looked it up and it’s similar to what you wrote. But when I listened to it on a recording it was hard to pronounce the same as the speaker
