I’m trying to delete some files and keep getting this message
For some reason they have double extensions such as filename.png.png or filename.wcld2.wcld2 I’ve tried renaming in order to delete but get that message again.

Hey @firemonkey I used to rely on a third party program like"FileAssasin".
If you want to delete things, they are very helpful when windows isn’t!
You could also run a chkdsk command on the volume from File Explorer or from the command prompt. It could be the volume has some corruption that chkdsk could repair.
What happens when you try to move the file, and then delete.,
I get the message previously mentioned.
Is the application open? Try checking task manager. If the application is open the file could be locked.
Just tried that. Didn’t work.
Try revolver undelete. If that doesnt help get to command prompt . Then copy. As follows:
Copy F:\Transcend\Transscend\Geneology\maps{your files name with dbl extensio. } to c:\users(your login name)\Desktop*.wcld2
This will copy file with proper name to your desktop. You then copy paste into file location of where it belomgs.
Using search results in file explorer . These are the files I want to delete
However when trying to delete with file assassin none of them are available to delete!
File assasin… that junk program… use… … where are these files located at…
For real delete of files you first need main file location.
Try this program it will delete those files…
Using ‘search maps and reports’ those files are there. However none of them are there when clicking on the ‘maps and reports’ folder
Which means either they are misplaced or named wrong with extensions.
A big thank you to all of you for taking the time to try and help me.
Np at allit is my pleasure
What’s the solution to that? A simple and straight forward one, please, if possible.
If the files are not in same place or with double file extensions you’ll have to rename them with one ext only by going to properties and renaming them with only the file name at name… don’t worry about extension in the main name under properties in windows properties settings. this will make them with only one file extension.
I show you with pictures please wait a second.
