I have a question for people on the spectrum (ASD)

Would you say that you are somewhat inflexible? Are changes hard for you at times? Do these things cause melt downs?

Yes in some instances I am not flexible

Changes with short notice are hard for me, and that makes me inflexible

I can get into a spin and can’t always pull myself out of it without grounding myself by family talking me down

Thank you. I appreciate your honest reply.

Not flexible in many areas. Also not apologizing for it. I don’t melt down now, but I may not like you any longer if you insist on pushing me outside of my boundaries when I have clearly defined them.

I have definitelt been told i am inflexible. Certsin changes overwhelm me but not to the point of meltdown. I usually get shutdowns more than anything

i have ASD but i pretty much thrive on spontaneity
but if i say im going to do something like a promise… it’s hard for me to change it
i have ways of doing things but i think that’s not an ASD thing
if someone says ‘stop doing that’ it gets to me lol - hard for me to put things down if im in the middle of something

Is it possible to quote you to my sister who is seeking an asd diagnosis and I think would find common ground with this comment?

That’s exactly my housemate with ASD. Can’t plan ahead, has meltdowns with change, (even when we should be leaving at 9am and I want to leave at 8.50am to catch the train on time)

Sometimes i’m inflexible sometimes i’m not. I get really bad metldowns in some situations.
