At least that’s what I call it. I had to drive to the east side of the city to get my feet looked at the clinic They were swollen and the doctor had me get some special insoles to put in my shoes and this was a follow up visit to see how they work and apparently they’re working.
But the east side can be a bad place to go. Certain large sections have gang problems and all the crime that goes with it but there are a lot of people there who want to just raise a family and go to work and live a normal life. It’s hard to tell the difference though. Unfortunately, I have had to go there to go to the clinic many times this past year.
I kind of look at it as an adventure, I’m curious about the place. Other peoples lives fascinate me sometimes and I know there are some really bad people in the world and I know there are many bad people on the east side but I still am curious about them. It’s an interesting place to visit and see those people. It’s necessary to be careful but I hate to admit it but I get a little bit of a perverse pleasure when some of the people there give me a wide berth sometimes because they can’t figure me out and they get a little scared. But I have no real beef with them. And I’m nice to kids and older people and of course I don’t try to scare kids or the elderly. Some times I kinda treat the area as a foreign country and I’m watching the natives like I was visiting Europe or something, lol.
But at my appointment the nurse was nice, the doctor was kind of nice I guess. I liked the drive and I stopped and got a hamburger at Burger KIng and there was some poor old guy about my age sitting in a wheelchair alone in the Burger King parking lot and he looked dirty and ragged and he had some meager possessions near him so on a whim I pulled up next to him and handed him a $5.00 bill through my window which he thanked me for. So this was my little adventure today. I gotta have a little fun sometimes even if I’m 57, right?
