My psych NP thinks I have schizophrenia but my new therapist thinks I have schizoaffective just because I have minor depression. Can someone explain this to me?
I’ve always been confused about this, too. I had a doctor once tell me I had sza because of situational depression that I want even medicated for. Like, apparently if you have sz you’re never allowed to get depressed? Doctors are clueless sometimes I think.
I feel your frustration. I seriously wonder why your not seeing a psychiatrist instead of nurses and therapists.
It’s simple really. Therapists aren’t trained in psychiatry.

Schizoaffective is sz with MAJOR chronic depressive disorder or bipolar. Your therapist doesn’t seem to know that. Mild depression or situational depression is part of sz
