I’m too depressed to play the drums. I haven’t played the drums in around 5 and a half months.
I know the feeling. I hardly play music at all anymore. A couple of years Id play something pretty much every day.
My only advice is to start small. Try and pick one day of the week where you play for 30 minutes or so. You might find once you’re on the kit it isnt so bad, its just getting to the kit thats the problem.
When I feel too depressed for one hobby, I pick up a new hobby for a while until I am ready to return to the previous hobby. Hobbies shouldn’t feel like chores. They should be fun and engaging. If the drums aren’t working for now, maybe cooking or drawing or going on walks. You shouldn’t feel shame or guilt over not enjoying a hobby for a while.
I struggle with enjoying old hobbies too. I agree with @Ninjastar. Pick up a different hobby for a while, even if it is something as simple as coloring adult coloring books. If you can’t enjoy anything at all it’s time to make an appointment with your pdoc and let them know
