How normal are manic attacks?

how do or did you describe those manic attacks that lasted a few hours but didn’t last over night or for days?

What name should i give to lesser manic attacks?

for example. half the time i go to a therapist, my mood is stimulated and i feel manic, but most of the time at this point in my life it only lasts a few hours. it shouldn’t be called mania, because the precise definition of that is where it lasts for days. my therapist told me to refer to it as hypomania, but even that wouldn’t be accurate because it has a precise definition and time component too. i thought about cyclothimic or somehting but that probably has a unique definition too. the best i can do is say im hypomanic even though i’m not technically, or say i feel manic even though i’m not technically experiencing mania. thoughts and suggestions?
