Hormones and sz/sza?

My sister in law said I’m depressed because my estrogen is low and my progesterone is high. She said I need estrogen then I’ll feel better.

Is this true? I don’t know how she can say my estrogen is low, because I never got it measured. But I am not interested in increasing it because I don’t want children. Plus hormone replacement therapy can cause breast cancer and I already have high prolactin

I’m not big into these hormones theories, but is there something in it? I can’t imagine low estrogen can cause mental illness

I’m post menopausal, and I take hormone replacement therapy, so I’ve got estrogen and progesterone. And I’m still crazy depressed.

It could potentially be true. But I don’t see how she can know that for sure since you have never gotten it measured. There ,of course, could be other factors in causing your depression too. Especially since you are sza. It could be a contributing factor according to this article though.

Try fennel seeds. They increase estrogen. They also good for schizophrenia I read.

Don’t take too much, just a teaspoon or 2.

Hormones have little to do with depression. It’s your serotonin levels and a chemical imbalance in your head. Im no expert but I think I have plenty of testosterone and I am still depressed. That’s why antidepressants are SSRI’s. Something Serotonin reuptake inhibitor.

I was put on testosterone shots by a doctor who wrote a book on men with head injury. Pretty much across-the-board, the men in the study were depressed and had low testosterone.

Mood wise, best thing that ever happened to me

I have no idea how estrogen effects females mood-wise though. That would really be something to look into
