Higher Cholesterol Level Associated with Suicidal Thoughts in first-episode schizophrenia females

Something to be aware of - watch your cholesterol levels if you are a woman and have recently been diagnosed with schizophrenia:

I had high cholesterol levels from eating at mcdonalds

Well, can’t the result be interpreted the other way? That SZ and initial depression might cause the onset of nutrition problems, thus generating the higher TC levels? I know for sure there was a correlation between my Eating disorders and the onset of my illness, but I couldn’t be able to tell you which caused which, I guess the onset was insidious and spontaneous, for both affections.

Sad thing is, my eating disorder went undiagnosed while my SZ had to be diagnosed due to behavioral issues that were affecting others - might be the case for many, many young women who are (I’m guessing culturally) prone to eating disorders.

Anyway, when your judgement begins to be impaired - I’ve noticed - you start having bad eating habits, culminating with eating only junk food for a lack of inclination to make your own meals (just like the lack of inclination towards personal hygiene arises in some) or simply being anorexic. I’ve seen people during their psychotic outbursts that have stopped eating alltogether for unknown and unscrutinized reasons. I’m beginning to think it’s just like lack of sleep: we can’t say if SZ triggers insomnia or it’s the other way around.

I hope this makes sense.

Maybe its got something to do with women being more conscious of their weight. or because they feel that there sense of confidence in themselves is governed in the large part by how they appear to other people
