Heart monitor being installed tomorrow

this will be my second heart monitor this year, but this one is being put on by the doctor instead of my applying the monitor to myself…so it must be fancy…this is to track my heart rate and see if the meds are working…I hope they do work because if they don’t I have to get a procedure.

Holter monitor? Just electrodes and what looks like a tiny MP3 player.

Dad had a holter attached to his chest, earlier this year. He kept it for 24 hours. The report showed a host of potential issues (arrhytmia, low bpm, other stuff I don’t remember) but none reached the danger level.

I have this done every 2 years. Mitral valve leak I have. It always comes back fine.

@shutterbug I have no idea…all I know is that they are putting it on.

It’s just a mobile EKG. You wear it for 24 hours and then they feed the data into an analytical program that coughs out a summary for the doc.

I can’t come back for a week so I hope it’s not for 24 hours??

I do them about once a year and they are always 24 hours. I would be surprised if they did one for a longer period.

When you do it have them shave where they are putting the electrodes. Otherwise they rip out hair when they are removed and it is much worse than the temporary bald spots.

I moved this thread to Health and Recovery where it is a better fit.
