Something about Thomas Jefferson quotes always gets me. I’m not a constitutionalist. But gotta say despite his bad points he also made a lot of great ones.
I love Thomas Jefferson. He was a cool dude.
“If a law is Unjust it’s not the citizens right but their obligation to disobey it”
Another one I probably butchered but I like.
“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
Also…
“The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”
I recall a quote from another US president, I think it was Washington. He said, do not let America ever go 5 years without another Revolution. Meaning that they had fought so hard to win their freedom, don’t ever let government overrule the people
Good quote! 151515
Well, sure, he was one of the greatest intellectuals of all time. He had a child with a slave which was probably covered up at the time.
Hence his “bad points” in my OP
I agree. It wasn’t a moral thing to do and who knows what hardship it caused the woman?
