Finding an AP for my sza (Latuda causing mania?)

I’m glad you found the post useful! And yes I do believe that Invega is technically the only FDA-approved AP for SzA. I was curious about Invega, but I figured that my horrible reaction to Risperdal probably means that I wouldn’t benefit from it. But yeah any antipsychotic can potentially be used for it I think, you can either pair it with a mood stabilizer/antidepressant (depending if depressed type or bipolar type) or you can just use an AP with mood benefits to handle both the psychosis and mood disorder. That’s why I was kinda interested in Vraylar, it’s FDA approved for mania and passed Phase III trials for bipolar depression, so theoretically I might be able to use only that plus benefit from it helping psychosis and negative symptoms allowing me to stop my Lithium which is giving me so much acne

If you have major problems with manic moods, you probably need a very sedating AP. Excessive sleep and/or lethargy comes with all of these. But it gets better with time. I’m on Seroquel and my mixed hypomanic moods are gone. I sometimes have mild hypomanias and very short depressions. I sleep 9 hours on average and I’m basically knocked out for the first 2.5 hours of the day. But it’s worth it. The rest of the day I feel completely normal. Zyprexa worked equally well, but instead of being knocked out the first few hours I was lethargic the whole day. That didn’t really work for me.

Hypomania was my main problem, though. I have had long depressions, but after the last one, I was hypomanic most of the time. And the hypomania made my psychosis a lot worse.

Thank you, for me Zyprexa and Seroquel were the opposite unfortunately. I was really excited for Seroquel because I was hoping it could manage both of my poles. But I was just too tired the entire day to do anything, plus I had these muscle aches. With Zyprexa the lethargy eventually improved, but my prolactin and lipids were too messed up to continue with it, unfortunately.

Idk maybe Geodon? That one looks interesting, and the tiredness seems very variable between people.

Although I definitely agree that activation as well as getting to sleep could be a problem thereby causing mania from sleep deprivation, if you have a separate sleep aid couldn’t some of the activating APs potentially work? Abilify and Vraylar for instance are FDA approved for bipolar mania and mixed episodes

It’s worth a try if your doctor agrees.

I rather be a bit sedated than having panic anxiety and hysteria and other awful feelings.

I think I was calm on olanzapine but it made me gain over 20kg.

Latuda I’m good in a way and lost weight but I tend to get more anxiety panic hysteria and possibly a touch of terror.

Also jawclenching so bad it hurts but I get benzotrap to help which it does a bit.

I feel others negative feelings in my body too…

I feel I can not handle it.

I need help.

I am good doing things I do like dishes and managing appointments , can do grocery shopping alone, feed the animals ,drive etc

Still can not do dinners comfortably.
It feels awful that type of socialisation.

They are trying to break me and my man up.

I told my man he should not chat with his fan who is obsessed with him .
It puts me in danger and encourages her and leads her on despite he having told her he is taken.

I do not want to go to a psych ward again and worry if it would happen if we broke up or they broke us up.

I want to trust him and do.
He said he is a one woman man
