***Final call for antipsychotic drug withdrawal research participation***

(Please feel free to ignore this post if you have already seen my previous post earlier this month), and thank-you to everyone who has taken part so far!

Site admin approved participation in this research to be advertised on this forum.

Hi everyone, my name is Sara and I’m in my final year of studying pharmacy at Newcastle University in north-east England.

I am interested in exploring a career as a pharmacist in mental health services, so for my dissertation project I’m researching into peoples’ experiences of antipsychotic drug withdrawal.

If you have experience in coming off (either completely or a dose reduction), attempting to come off, or are currently attempting to come off an antipsychotic drug then I would love to be able to interview you over Zoom (or a phone call if you are in the UK) to hear your story.

Needless to say, all data collected will be confidential and anonymised.

If you are interested in taking part in this study, please fill in the following online form:

If you complete the above form I’ll get in touch with you by email with further information about the study and will provide you with the link to the consent form if you decide to take part.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions

Many Thanks

Does one of my unpaid fellow moderators want to reply?

You need to calm it down @mister_lister and you are not a "fellow " moderator. Don’t try to pass yourself off as one.

Okay … sorry!

When I withdraw from medication I feel good and on top of the world for about 3 years. I feel balanced out when withdrawing for some reason.

The medications take a toll on your body and when I quit I get a release of endorphins and feel good.

We all should be able to take out meds when we want to, not overdosing us and making us outta balance. Risperidone helps me more when I’ve stopped taking it. When I take it 24/7 I’m tired and lazy and sleepy. When I stop I get good feelings.

I think things in moderation are better. Not overdosing us poor mentally ill people.

I hope this helps. And thanks for learning about schizophrenia.
