Thanks for the compliment. I have been called “hilarious” in person; but, it doesn’t always come through in my writing, I guess.
Anyway, there has been appreciation shown for multiple “Clinton Bruce”’ people on this planet, and I’ve been one of them since several months before I was born. The guy they based the Avengers character on really isn’t me; but I believe he really is a legend.
i doubt we’ll see this in Europe for a while, i’m guessing it will be massively overpriced and our Nhs here is already struggling & under funded *i hope i am wrong)
Another worry for me would be if someone was on a med for a long time which acted on dopamine receptors then they changed to Cobenfy which act on other receptors, surely the withdrawals would still be significant, i feel like my brain has now been molded by my ap & so it would still be a massive risk to me to change.
That’s something to chat with your pdoc about I would presume!
since it doesnt target dopamine receptor. Would it mean more motivation? as dopamine is caused by these receptors and they are responsible for motivation
I’m doing ok on my med atm, i thought my med was causing my CFS/ME but it isn’t, as we reduced them and it got worse so if anything the med is helping it, also my mental health is very good on this med & i can cope with so much more now and i’m still building on it, its a low dose as well and my side effect are not too bad. weights pretty steady about 94kg or 200lbs.
I’m sure that now that it has been FDA approved, the pharmaceutical thinktanks are quite awake and in overdrive generating marketing materials related to supposed benefits of restored dopaminergic activity. We may not have to wait long for ‘answers’ to some of these questions.
I think that remains to be seen but from my point of view, the transition from neuropathways which have been formed through use of an ap for many years would cause significant withdrawals, i have experienced it first hand and symptoms may return.
I am not a doctor, nor am I a medical professional.
I think that one of technical terms for what you are referring to is ‘dopamine supersensitivity psychosis.’ At the time of this writing, this wikipedia article describes something similar to what you describe:
Dopamine supersensitivity psychosis is a hypothesis that attempts to explain the phenomenon in which psychosis (e.g., hallucinations, delusions) occurs despite treatment with escalating doses of antipsychotics. Dopamine supersensitivity may be caused by the dopamine receptor D2 antagonizing effect of antipsychotics, causing a compensatory increase in D2 receptors within the brain that sensitizes neurons to endogenous release of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Because psychosis is thought to be Do...
However, I’m sure several strategies for dealing with that contingency have been formulated.
I am talking about the withdrawals from an AP which acts on Dopamine receptors, this Cobenfy acts on different receptors, if you change the pathways which your brain takes to process thoughts etc and take a completely different route using other receptors then this sounds like it could be likened to a metaphorical train being derailed causing massive withdrawals.
it would be nice to think that there could be a smooth transition from one to the other.

I don’t know why you seem to think that I don’t know what you are talking about. Many people have come off of antipsychotics for a few months after several years on them, and I’m one of them:
In late 2016, I was taken completely off of antipsychotics by my psychiatrist after having been on them for almost all of about 9 years. Going cold-turkey off Haldol for about 4 months was quite uncomfortable.
During that time, a friend of mine, who is now dead, told me “all hands on deck,” so I struggled in my uncomfortable state to write a computer program for a group of friends. It worked. It was around that time that the clip above from “Infinity War” was being filmed, with the film made partly in Atlanta, near my home.
I know some of the effects of withdrawing from antipsychotics.
For what its worth: The NY Times mentioned the “wholesale” price of around $1850 a month. The “retail” price at drug stores might be higher. We will not know for a month.
Wonder if they’ll let you take Cobenfy if you have non alchohol fatty liver disease and High blood pressure caused by atypical antipsychotics?
The gastrointestinal side effects are transcient according to the trials
Not too bad… weighs 94 kg lol…dude i am the same weight as you on abilify and i cant even tolerate my medicine
What is the liver warning??
Here’s a link to the package insert https://packageinserts.bms.com/pi/pi_cobenfy.pdf
Includes prescribing info and side effects, etc.
Thanks for sharing. It seems that Bristol Myers is in a hurry to start selling the drug, they already have everything ready.
What do you think, when will US patietents start taking Cobenfy? Also, what do you think when will be available in Europe?
