"Exploding head syndrome" (a sudden loud noise when you fall asleep)

Sometimes i experience a sudden inner, very loud PANG in my head when i try to fall asleep. It’s very scary.

I’m very relieved after I read this about the phenomenon which is called “Exploding head syndrome.” 10% of the population have it and it is benign.

Exploding head syndrome ( EHS ) is an abnormal sensory perception during sleep in which a person experiences unreal noises that are loud and of short duration when falling asleep or waking up.[2][4] The noise may be frightening, typically occurs only occasionally, and is not a serious health concern.[2] People may also experience a flash of light.[5] Pain is typically absent.[2]

I really, really hope that one day I will have an easy and healthy sleep without all of these strange and annoying phenomena.

Of course it did. Frightening. The first time i had it, i was terrified, it was like if something literally exploded inside my head.

I like the name “Exploding head syndrome” it sounds like an infectious disease in a B-horror movie:

“Suddenly, all around the world, heads begin to explode and blood and brains are shattered all over.”

That’s happened to me too.

Sometimes I wish exploding head syndrome was a real thing.

It is a real thing. I have it, and this guy has it too… or rather he had it, and in a very severe degree
