No I don’t think so. They have to convince themselves that they want to lose weight and go on a diet.
If someone says to me euw your fat, then tbh yes it will motivate me to lose weight, but I won’t wanna hang around with that person. There’s a way to say certain things.
definitely agree that it doesn’t help
the shame of it makes me want to eat more
especially if the food i’m eating is something i am already ashamed of
where is the satisfaction? where is the release? it’s increased appetite AND emotionally difficult
I think it helps and it doesn’t help this doesn’t really make sense but I mean it in the sense that…
Diets become more extreme in desperation to lose weight… But as a result relapses in binging also become more extreme… Then eating disorders develop like bulimia etc.
I think if I get stressed I overeat. Shaming is stressful so it would lead me to eat more and get even fatter. Not good.
If someone fat shamed me right now I’d also probably want to eat!

London, September 17, 2019 - According to a new study in the journal Heliyon , published by Elsevier, dysfunctional eating patterns and habits in overweight and obese adults can be triggered by early life experiences that are deeply rooted within patients’ personality features. As a result, weight loss interventions like surgery and cognitive-behavior therapy might not be sufficient to guarantee long-term success. Cognitive psychologists used the Schema Therapy (ST) model to gain a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological functioning of these individuals with a view towards developing more effective treatment options.

The last person to ‘fat shame’ was my mother. She’d comment negatively about my weight from time to time . Last time she did I had lost about 10lbs. That demoralised me , and my trying to lose weight crashed and burned.
I’ve said I’m very overweight to people , and more do the “You’re not that big” line than fat shame .
My sister used to say I’m using the meds as an excuse for being fat.
What a cow! I don’t anyone can understand the weight thing until they have been on the meds and experienced it for themselves. It’s all very weell people saying to exercise more and eat fewer calories, but these medications throw that all out of whack.
A female resident, at a nursing home where I volunteered, called me “fat” and that spurred me into losing 50 lbs.
