thinking i would like to start getting into the hobby. i haven’t sewn in years, not since middle school, when we had to sew a stuffed animal for home economics. would like to try to make my own clothes with different fabrics. i think im over my head on this one.

I have sewed different stuff throughout the years. I personally find it difficult. Its a skill I havent mastered. When I sew stuff, it doesn’t always come out looking great. Some looks good and some not so good

yeah my grandma used to be expert. she really enjoyed it, she was always making blankets for the newborns in the family and would go to quilt shows. in fact she helped me with my stuffed animal years ago. mom didn’t take up the hobby, she was more of a tomboy and had no interest in that sort of stuff.
we don’t even have a sewing machine anymore. so i would have to buy one. don’t know where i would put it, maybe in my living room or library.

I also found some other frustrating problems. Like my machine won’t sew right and I’ve got to pinpoint the problem. Like the machine isn’t threaded right.

No, I wish I knew how to make clothes.
Years ago I enrolled in an apparel design class but I had to drop it because of symptoms.

i really want to sew some courdoroy pants haha. i don’t think i could get pants right. i used to have a pair of courdoroy pants that were awesome, but i got rid of them, and they wouldn’t fit anymore anyhow.
i could watch daytime tv and sew in the mornings. i remember my grandma sewing by her tv and watching the price is right when i was a kid.

I’ve made a few things. Used to more than I do now. Mostly I just make cosplay costumes now. Clothes are cheaper to buy than make. I alter a lot of my clothes, though.

I do a little hand sewing, no machine. But I do make clothes with crocheting. My daughter likes the hippie era stuff.

I did a basic dressmaking course ten years ago and can do simple skirts and dresses but I’m not so interested in making clothes from scratch. I love altering existing clothes though. Do that a lot. I have a sewing machine but enjoy also hand sewing as it’s very relaxing.

I have a regular electric sewing machine with a pedal.
When I was at a convent in 2010, the nuns there who made priest vestments for a living, had these fancy sewing machines which could be programmed to embroider designs onto the material and then when set, they’d sew by themselves.
First time I saw that!

My mother taught me how to sew when I was little both by hand and on a machine. I made a white dress shirt for a choir performance and my dress for my brother’s wedding. I never really enjoyed it though and have forgotten most of what I learned. I never taught my children to sew.
