I went through 5 jobs in 2021 before landing on one that worked out
If the meds keep my paranoia at bay I may try a full time job. Iām working part time while on SSDI right now and thinking about starting a masters.
What job did you find that is working out. At my workplace they have security who just sit down on a chair all day and wave ppl in and out. I wish i had a cushy job like that. But it pays less then what im currently doing my job pays 23 an hour while the security job pays 17. Still though getting paid to sit down and basically just play on your phone all day sounds pretty cushy.
I do sales. I get given some clients and I just email or call to get the contract renewed. I quote jobs, Or get new ones. Mostly emails. Thereās a few other bits. Itās a pretty relaxed environment. As long as I get my work done I can read stuff or learn other things. So I learn programming at work in my spare time.
I am employed and have schizophrenia. The income a receive monthly from my job is way more than what I would have received from disability.
Howndo you guys manage to work with the negative symptoms and the cognitive problems. Or do you guys not experience that?
Itās cushy until it isnāt. Iāve worked security and itās much less fun when you get caught in a bad situation. It offsets the easy parts.
I am a data analyst, but I am currently off long term sick.
It has been 2 months since I worked properlyā¦
I used to be quite resilient, but at the moment not so much
My treatment is up in the air again, and I literally have no idea what to do about it
Be sure to eat a big meal when you take geodon or it wonāt work.
I work. I donāt have a job but I have to make some effort every day. I stay clean and sober and that makes it possible. I do a lot of loafing too. I have a strong work ethic from having many jobs for ten years. It has sucked so bad! to need work and have none, like Van Gogh said in JUST FOR LIFE, or, rather, Kirk Douglas.
I mean LUST FOR LIFE, the movie, auto correct sucks!
Iām on disability.
I canāt work.
I donāt work,
I have worked 5 years out of 10,
I donāt know I will get another job.
I am not independent,
there is no W.I.N for me,(Wants,Interest,Needs)
Everything is messed up.
I am just going with the flow.
The amount of skill/knowledge I have to flow,
It may get dried up before reaching the ocean, anyways.
I am on disability for the last ten years and only had one review.
But I do a variety of side hustles with my dad when I feel well enough to do so. He has backup if I canāt help and heās really understanding when I say I canāt help.
We do a variety of low key semi intensive work. Installing and removing docks. Cabin cleaning. Snow removal. Lawn care. Transporting items of whatever people need.

Iāve started looking for work again. Part-time is what Iām looking to land. Did some difficult online courses recently, in order to strenghten my resume, but I will probably get employed in a slightly different, easier branch. Computer engineering is after all such a vast world.
I am working full time as a civil engineer but my monthly income is less than developed countries (your) disability income.
I worked a bit. Had one job almost 2 and a half years. Got fired from another. In the process of getting my SSDI back. They tell me I am getting it back for at least 6 months but it hasnāt hit my bank account yet.
I work part-time in a grocery store as a day stocker. Itās really tough on me, with being in a store full of strangers, hard, fast work, and not being able to escape my own mind. And unfortunately, the only people that knew of my situation have left, so Iāve been quite uncomfortable as of late. However, I am working on getting a different job through a public service in my state that helps people get jobs, particularly if you have challenges. So Iām definitely planning on my continuation of work, and hopefully go to college and become a paralegal, then maybe a lawyer someday. It is tough, though, living with this disease and working.
Thatās something great to aim for..
Best of luck!
You can get there
Maybe you might be able to be freelance and when you do work, itās super rewarding and well paid ![]()
iām on disability
