What do you mean desires? Ultimately I think behind proud is the main root of our passions but it certainly can be nourished from other places.

Yes when you plant a seed it sprout with single root.

Seed = desire
Imo the root of desires is the brain
our body our mind thats the root of our desires
also our deprivations
also dreams
also what we love
desirable things …etc
To obtain pleasure, relief, love, positive emotions.
