Did you loose friends during psychosis?

I lost all my friends and gf except for 3 friends that I talk on social media but I never go out with them. They always ask me to go out but I don’t like to go out of my house anymore since I was diagnosed.

All my freinds were piss-artists down the pub. They dont even acknowledge me now i dont drink. Fck the lot of them. And my bank balance is healthier too.

I use to have a lot of friends, but depressions og odd behavior were to much for at lot of them. Now i have three friends who have followed me the last 30 years.

They can be very annoying. But so can i. It takes a lot of acceptance from both sides.

Its sad to read about this loneliness problem of SZ disorders

Great posts here about what makes friendship during times of illness.

I lost 2 friends but they both had mental illness. I wish they were still my friends. Maybe my life would have been different.

Your friends don’t change your life, its you who changes it. But yes SZ can make it hard to make friends ,have a partner, work and be social.

I thought I did. Back when it all started, I was told by God to isolate myself from everyone including family and friends, so this delusional thought made me not speak to anyone. I thought I had lost everything, but as it would turn out, all my friends and family were right there with me to support me and likewise inspire me to tell more people about my illness. I even told my high school about my illness, then I gave a speech about my schizophrenia in speech class not too long ago. So no, my friends, who I thought I lost, all ended up supporting me in the end.
