Did anybody not finish high school

Got kicked out with one class to go. So I got my GED and then that Summer I get a letter in the mail from my school saying they’re holding a special class just for people in my situation. So I passed the class and now I have my diploma and a GED.

My dad only got his high school degree when he was 35! So, you can always do it no matter what your age is.

@anon67051439 Maybe you can start by finding a place where you can volunteer to build up your skills and confidence and maybe meet some nice people.

I almost didn’t finish high school. For two reasons:

  1. I played hookey all the time and never attended classes. 2. And my boyfriend encouraged me to drop out of school, get my GED, and go to work.

At the end of my school year I didn’t have any credits with which to graduate cause I missed so many classes. They gave me the option to turn in all my assignments and take all my exams in the last week of school, which I did, and I passed everything and thats how I graduated.

As far as my boyfriend was concerned, I’m glad I chose to ignore him.

I didnt finish high school either - it was by choice at the time

I finished because I was homeschooled and I’m fairly certain that if I had stopped before 12th grade my mother would have lost her ever loving mind.:rofl::rofl:

I decided to pursue a philosophy called unschooling, or self-directed learning. Ive preferred this a lot more, gave me a lot more freedom

I did this for a few years instead of university - working on my own projects and seeing where it takes me

I studied a bit of game design for tertiary education for about 6 months but also didnt finish that

A bit later on i started working as a content creator then programmer before current situation with first psychotic symptoms

I was hospitalised the term I was due to take A levels (going to college/uni was dependent on how well you did at them) Hence didn’t finish the UK equivalent of high school. I had a far too soon, abortive, attempt at a history A level correspondence cousin at the end of 1975 to early 1976. I’ve steadfastly rebuffed suggestions to do further education, in a bricks and mortar setting, because of the bullying related trauma.

I was kicked out of high school at 15 and left with nothing

I went 12 years to school but the last 2 years I stayed away for one year. I had a drinking problem so I just thought that that was the reason for staying away. But the headmaster asked me to leave if I would not show up at school every day the last year so I followed the rules the last year. I took my exam with a score a little below average.
Don’t be ashamed of yourself for not having a high school exam because what you learn there is rather worthless. Just look at the wealthiest men in the us. None of them had a higher education but now they rule the world and they just learned from life. Bill gates, Elon musk. Remember a collage degree causes you to get student dept that you must pay back again. And if you don’t get a job latest 2 years after exam then your education is just useless and maybe you’ll never be able to pay your student dept back. So learn from life just like Bill Gates and Elon Mosk

I was hospitalised for the first time, a week into my last term, the A level taking term, at Felsted public school. Hence I only have O levels. Although I’m temperamentally best suited to a traditional, bricks and mortar, learning environment, I’ve never felt safe enough to be in such a setting. That’s because of the bullying related trauma. The fear of being bullied, mocked, and ridiculed , has always been too great.

Not originally, no. I went back as an adult.

I finished high school and got a diploma in college.

Was gonna get a degree in software engineering but I became overwhelmed with the workload and eventually had my 1st psychotic break.

The highest earning individual I know never graduated high school. They did not attend any school beyond grade 8. This person also has tattoos on face. They are C level at a very powerful organization. Make more money than everyone I know.

I skipped all of year 9 and 10 because I lived in a children’s home and they didnt enforce going to school. I left with no qualifications. I’m doing quite well now though. I think qualifications would have been a hindrance towards me because theirs no way I would of been accepted in the intellectual disability service if I had GCSE’s. I wouldn’t of gotten into a supported living house. And the ID team is much better than generic MH teams. They are more holistic and actually care about the person.
