Clozapine and sarcosine?

Hi all,
I’ve just been prescribed clozapine in small dosages (12,5mg). But I’m already taking sarcosine which helps a little with negatives. Thing is, I’ve read somewhere that sarcosine simply doesn’t work with this ap. And I’m not sure why is that…
Is anybody on this combination? What can i expect?
(I’m already taking aripiprazole 15mg and tianeptine/coaxil/stablon.)

Yes, I am in the same predicament. I am on clozapine and I take sarcosine which helps me alot with my negatives but clozapine and sarcosine cancel eachother out! I have been taking clozapine during the day and 1 dose of sarcosine and L-Theainine at night but I am not getting enough clozapine this way so eventually I will have to try something else! I need them both desperately, I am not sure what to do.

Hey @dmdar what have you decided to do?

I’m still taking both clozapine and sarcosine and i feel just fine… But could it be better?

One study showed no additional improvement for sarcosine for people who were already taking clozapine. It was a pretty small sample of 20 people.

“RESULTS:
Sarcosine produced no greater improvement when co-administered with clozapine than placebo plus clozapine at weeks 2, 4, and 6. Sarcosine was well tolerated and no significant side-effect was noted.”

Interesting, maybe it will work after all, I will try taking them both at the same time and see what happens, it would be a miracle if they didn’t cancel eachother out.

There is no evidence I can find that “they cancel each other out” - the issue is that there seemed to be no added benefit from taking the sarcosine with clozapine, like the benefit that people saw when they added sarcosine of people taking any of the other medications. There was no “downside” to taking them together, in any of the research studies I’ve seen.
