Mostly genetics, but severe stress and illness can add to it.

what illness @kasia

Not a specific illness. It can be a reaction from the trauma of the illness on the body.

@kasia thanks for letting me know,i did have ptsd from psychosis

That could be it.
I’m in the same boat as you. The past 8 months of dealing with my ex-fiance’s psychosis has caused gray hairs to pop up on me. Before it, I had none and I’m young too.

Its a bit early but usually mid 30s on. Remember you have dark hair , it is more obvious in dark hair than blonde

ive black hair so they look like high lights

You can dye it if you don’t like it. Lots of people do.

Teenaged females. Definitely.

Here are some details:

Hair goes gray when color-producing cells stop producing pigment, says Jeffrey Benabio, MD, a dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. Naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide can also build up in the hair, bleaching the color.
Typically, white people start going gray in their mid-30s, Asians in their late 30s, and African-Americans in their mid-40s. Half of all people have a significant amount of gray hair by the time they turn 50.
A white person is considered to be prematurely gray if his or her hair turns gray by age 20; gray before 30 is early for African-Americans.

I am Caucasian and got my first grey hair at age 14!

I looked in the mirror last week to see how my ‘original’ grey streak was doing. Couldn’t find it amongst all the other grey streaks. The little blighters reproduced.

Shoulda used birth control.

I had only a couple of grey hairs in my early 40’s, then after a car accident my hair became wavy for 3 years, mind you, it had always been real straight all my life, stubborn straight…like a dog had been licking it for a very long time.

At 50 years old, and after a series of life changing events in less than a year, my hair not only turned silvery grey on both sides, but now my hair has a lot of soft curls.
yayyy!

My hair was always a light -med brown, but now I call it my, uh, “whiter blond.”

People who undergo chemo have also had changes in their hair after it grew back. I’ve read about them having changes like you described.
Bodies do strange things under severe stress.

I used to be a haircutter in a shop, and one client of mine who had dark straight hair, underwent chemo, and when her hair grew back, it was white and very, very curly.

Exactly. There are lots of cases of severe stress on the body causing hair changes but scientists still have it up for debate.

for me its very little grey hair and Im also 32. My beard is starting to have quite a bit of grey in it. I would like to know if stress cause this, or maybe even the meds.

I got my first grey hair when I was pregnant with my son at age 21. Now I’m 42 and 40-50% grey. It’s actually more common then one thinks to go grey early.
