I’m in Portugal and some things are just getting on my nerves. Recently my car needed to get towed to my car dealer because the battery was dead. It took 13 days for them to change that battery!!! I tried calling for updates to see what’s up only to find my contact’s phone off, and messages that went unreturned. I had additional repairs I wanted done but after 10 days I said cancel those repairs because I was referred to a mechanic that had experience with my car by an uber driver.
So yesterday I made an appointment to meet the new mechanic at 5:30. I start to get suspicious at 5 because I realize that he’s asked me to meet him at a gas station. So I call him and ask him where he’s going to repair the car and he says a “shop” around the corner from the gas station. So I figure it’s still worth a try since it could be a good contact for the future. So I go to the gas station. at 5:50 I call to ask where he is and he’s like “let me get in my car so I can hear you.” Previously at 5:15 he said he was in a place 30 min away. Anyways at 6:05 I call him to say I’m leaving and he basically says he’s close (yeah right)
So I’m at my wits end with the level of service here, seems like no one really gives a ■■■■
You couldn’t change the battery yourself?
Are you sure those “mechanics” wern’t really just using your car for those 10 days…?
You-tube has some really good videos on how to do most things yourself, and when my brake light went out the other day, I watched a couple of videos on how to change it, then changed it myself.
Felt pretty good not to be at the mercy of other people with the knowledge you need.
10 days?
Think after the 2nd day I’d have been sitting in their waiting room getting all cozy with a sammich and hot coffee and be pitching a tent right smack dab in the middle of the floor until they got that battery changed.
I have a tow truck plan called caa in Canada and they will replace your battery roadside. It’s $24 a month for my two kids that drive and me to be covered . Worth every penny as my daughter goes in the ditch regularly in winter haha
