The gameChange trial began on July 1 in the UK. It will last 18 months and puts patients into VR recreations of real-world situations they might find difficult, like getting on a bus or walking down the street.
is this a joke?
Why do you say that ?
As much as I would love to think VR is anything like real life its not… if you have problems getting on a bus or walking down the street I don’t think anything can help you… I mean come on lol
Its pretty immersive, I’ve tried vr. People with a fear of heights can have that same fear triggered in VR.
If the experience is similar enough and does trigger your fear, exposure therapy can probably be effective.
Its all about trying to get people to get past the hurdles they face, and making the hurdles manageable.
This is pretty interesting because I’m attending CBT therapy at the moment and the group director scheduled a VR session sometime next week.
I’ll let you guys know how it goes.
Anyone here involved in this trial?
Can VR help treat schizophrenia?
Or between having and your paranoia kick in during the VR …total fn meltdown.
