Best TV series?

Morse, of course.

Recently I’m torn between Reacher and The Expanse. Both are hard to top.

Well i wouldn’t say it’s the ‘best’ as such, but i started watching the Robocop tv series last week and it is surprisingly good, especially if you find the films too violent (i don’t like shows to be too violent these days) as it is massively toned down. I’ve watched the first 3 episodes and so far it’s quite a fun show. I really didn’t appreciate it when I saw it as a teenager, but I’m enjoying it in my 40s.

The expanse was good first 2 seasons.

Yes, I agree, “the office” is quite funny. Both the USA version and the UK version.

Maybe babylon 5. That is a amazing scifi considering it came out in 1993. Lots of humour to go with it too.

I asked chat GPT to convert I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King Jr into Belter creole and I feel that it points to the extent to which the language is not very interesting and could have been developed to a higher degree everything about the belters in my opinion could have been developed more

"Mi got a dream, mi beltalowda! An mi dream, mi wen du someting. Mi dream dat one day, sa Belter, Oya go sit down together, an mi dream dat Oya go find a way to mek dis beltalowda world betta.

Mi got a dream today! Mi dream dat one day, da Rocinante an da Cant, da namba wan beltalowda ships, dey goin’ fly side by side. Mi dream dat Oya go find strength inna demself an fight for betta life, fight for betta oppurtunity.

Mi got a dream! Mi dream dat one day, on Ceres, on Tycho Station, on da Belt, da stazions go be free. No mo’ inyalowda, no mo’ sasa, but freedom an equality for ol da Beltalowda.

Mi got a dream, mi belta-famĂlia! Mi dream dat one day, da innas an da outtaks, da innalowda an da Beltalowda, dey go walk hand in hand, dey go find unity inna deir diversity.

Mi got a dream today! Mi dream dat one day, mi belta-belta pikas, dey go be judged by da contents a dem kowluter, by da strength a dem character, not by da side a da Oya weh dey was born.

Mi got a dream! Mi dream dat one day, da injustice an da inegalitá go be washed away, like da rain wa sha bera da Belt, an dat every belta shall know da true meanin’ a freedom.

Mi got a dream, mi beltalowda! A dream dat weh mi beltalowda weh lost deir lives, weh lost deir hopes, dey shall neva be forgotten. Dey shall be remembered as da heroes a da Belt, da ones who fought for freedom till da very end.

Mi got a dream today! Mi dream dat one day, da Beltalowda an Oya go rise up together, go build a future weh equality an freedom reign, weh da stars belong to all a weh.

Mi got a dream! Mi dream dat one day, Oya go truly be beltalowda, not in name alone, but in heart an ina weh spirit. Mi dream dat weh together, weh goin’ build a world weh ev’ryone can say, ‘Mi a beltalowda. Mi belong. Mi free.’"

You have to keep in mind that people as intelligent as you are happen to be in the minority. The show has to maintain a broader demographic appeal (meaning dumb people, too). Tolkien masterfully demonstrated what a turn-off a book that is half footnotes can be and authors since have tried not to follow that sorrowful example (the notable exception being Terry Pratchett who could have schooled Tolkien all day long).

The purpose of belter language though is to argue that there’s going to be some sort of Creole made out of the world languages that we understand right now correct?

Anyway it’s a fascinating fulcrum for discussion and I feel that the show and perhaps the books didn’t do it justice

The Flash and Agents of Shield if you count Netflix as TV.
