Being accepted by family

You guys, today was a freaking huge milestone for me. My mom came to visit for my birthday, and she bought me a rainbow jacket as a present. And she took the effort to call me the birthday person, instead of the birthday girl. I could tell she felt awkward and unnatural doing it, but she tried anyways. It was huge! I have been rejected by so much of my family for so long, and the fact that she keeps trying means the world to me.

I’m so happy for you! My family isn’t lgbtqa supportive really. They say they do, but when it’s someone in our family they don’t.

“birthday person” !!! Your mom is really trying to be liberal for you.

She said that instead of saying ninja is a birthday girl, she is acknowledging that ninja is fluid. She is being accepting of ninjas identity. So that’s why it is awesome. It’s a good thing and has nothing to do with being liberal.
