Been watching some early reality TV shows and realizing how messed up they were/are

I remember when “The Swan” came out.

Everyone loved it.

Anything with some sort of transformation is popular, but this was so dramatic.

My mom and I watched every episode.

It never occurred to me at the time how disgusting that whole idea was.

Another offender-

America’s Next Top Model.

Dear lord!

Those poor girls.

Tyra Banks is a monster and treated these, basically children, like trash cans for entertainment purposes.

Janice Dickenson did the same but she never claimed to be anything but a horrible ■■■■■.

I knew a woman who was a finalist on The Batchelor (early season) and she was so humiliated from the experience she eventually had to quit her job.

What is your opinion on reality TV?

I think it’s cruel.

The Swan is certainly messed up, but like a fiery train wreck, I couldn’t help but watch it.

This was also circa Joe Millionaire, I believe— where they had an Average Joe dupe ladies into believing he was wealthy and then at the end, spring the fact he was actually a plumber on them only to see if they still loved him or not.

Also, this moment is forever located in the Reality TV Hall of Fame/Shame:

I remember Joe Millionaire.

At least he was actually cute.

If I remember correctly.

Classic Tyra moment.

She’s a trashcan.

Totally .

Those “makeovers” she used to give the girls were atrocious and served no purpose except to humiliate them. “Editorial look” my ass .

When they cut off that poor girl’s waist length hair,

Then eliminated her the next episode,

I almost cried for her.

I was watching old ANTM episodes the other day and she actually told a contestant that she looked pregnant.

Very unhealthy program.
