Did we do this last year?
I am getting day ja vu from this conversation!
It does feel familiar.
No further argument.
We can’t escape religion and festivities. Some I like some I don’t. 6 weeks to Christmas. I am looking forward to the new years celebrations. I believe in the periodic table of elements. They seem so real.
I will agree that the modern Santa Claus does not seem religious but he was based on Saint Nicholas who was an early Christian Bishop so, Idk…there are religious roots there.
And of course, he has an association with Christmas, which although it is mostly commercialized now, is obviously founded upon celebrating a certain persons birth.
So, I can see @Charles_Foster s objection. IDK.
I totally get it, but Christmas is a morally bankrupted exercise
For me it’s a week off work, and a nice meal with some family.
That’s it
Presents can get ■■■■■■, I am not bothered.
Santa is a marketing tool
The ‘festive’ season is morally bankrupt
My Catholic school teachers would probably have a fit to see what I have become!
I am not bending over for their priests to ■■■■ me
When you are not religious you can’t make it far in school anyway. In primary school they brainwashed us all.
@Bowens would my profile get censored if I put a picture of the pope on my avatar?
Yes, you would be asked to change your avatar. Please don’t
It doesn’t exactly fit with “Joker” anyway.
Was just checking. I think it’s healthy to know what the boundaries and limitations are
Yeah, sleepoptimistic or arcade or whatever his name is now had a picture of buddha and had to change it so I don’t think the pope would work out.
What about the flying spaghetti monster?
lol. I have no idea what that is, but it sounds fine.
My memory sucks, but I could have sworn that last year we all agreed that a dreidel was an equivalent nonreligious imagry still associated with the holiday?
I think the Flying Spaghetti Monster seems fine since it is not a real religion but a social movement.
You may be right as this all sounds so familiar.
I don’t know. What’s your view on this @Ninjastar ? Does the “Flying spaghetti monster” make too much of an anti religious statement or do you think it would be fine?
