Alpha7 nAChR Agonists for Cognitive Deficit and Negative Symptoms in Schizophrenia: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Double-blind Controlled Trials

Nice one…if it is for negative symptoms …it is one of unmet need …

α7-nAChR agonists may not be effective in reversing overall cognitive impairments and negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia as adjunctive therapies.

So they probably won’t help with cognitives and negatives…

Hey @firemonkey,

Do u think it would be possible to post a brief summary of the research results u usually share with us? Like just a short sentence on top of the abstract as I find them sometimes too complicated to understand.

Be blessed,
gs

Basically it says it doesn’t work for cognitive/negative symptoms

Exactly how many studies did they pull together to conclude that this mechanism doesn’t make people smarter?

I still believe in the idea of nicotinic drugs being cognitive enhancers in the future. The compounds we have now may be ineffective, that doesn’t mean the mechanism is useless. It clearly works on paper. In the future we may have effective cognitive a7nachr drugs. Just you wait enry yiggins.
