I donāt think the drug itself causes a gambling addiction. Its more likely to be the genetic make up of the individual on the drug. Its like saying schizophrenics have a much lower life expectancy than ānormalā healthy peopleā¦its not the schizophrenia alone that cause the premature deaths, its the fact that schizophrenics are much more likely to drink alcohol, follow an unhealthy lifestyle, smoke or commit suicideā¦so premature death in schizophrenics are much more likely than in healthy individuals due to this indirect link. The same goes for compulsive gamblers. Schizophrenics are known to have compulsive and impulsive tendencies, and are much more likely to become addicted to something than a healthy personā¦but whether or not these tendencies arise because of the schizophrenia, or even a drug designed to help schizophrenia, is debatable, the tendencies were probably there before the schizophrenia set in. Also these tendencies are again not directly linked with the schizophrenia itself but are rather more common in people with schizophrenia.
I spent all my money on stupid ā ā ā ā when I took abilify. It made me next level manic. It was the only ap that made so hyper I didnāt know what to do with myself. Things didnāt end up to well
I didnāt experience even a desire for gambling, let alone compulsive gambling. How such stories crop up! It may be a coincidence.
