A Poem: Change

As I do the same thing
Everyday
I don’t expect much
To change

Adventure!

We need airing out sometimes.

Wander in a small town where no one speaks our language.

Charge a windmill.

Eat chocolate until we get sick.

Find a ticket to ride.

Cap it all off by finding an underground dance club that plays exclusively chunky jazz.

What a day, and stories for a few years.

I think it depends. If I exercise everyday I expect to be stronger at the end of the year.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did . So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Good point. This poem is quite timely actually. I just so happen to have discovered something I didn’t see clearly about myself having to do with change.

My daughter has been staying here and cleaning and rearranging things. I told her it was ok because I’m open to change. I have to admit that she has a lot of good ideas but I have had to come to terms with the truth about myself. I am NOT open to change.

I like things the way they are, I don’t like to mess with it if it’s working. Even if a new way is a lot better I have difficulty adjusting. Change causes me anxiety and I have basically just suffered with it not realizing there’s any other way to live.
