Readers Respond: What Makes A Great Psychiatrist?

I was reading this one earlier… the short paragraph about the doc who told the patient that meds were placebo and even she didn’t know exactly what they did… floored me.

That was a doc who said that. If I had a doc say that to me… It would have reaffirmed me to never be med compliant.

It’s good to have an idea of what to look for when choosing a doc.

one that is free, like mine.

One that can let a customer go

someone who listens and doesn’t talk all the time one that agrees that the patient is the one that know whats best for them even if they don’t agree LOL

One that gives you time to explain yourself is good. It helps if they are experienced and willing to impart their knowledge.

We probably need to move to another state!

Regard the schizophrenia,a great psychiatrist does not exist !
-There are many different factors that contributed to creation
of cognitive deficits for the psychiatrists around the sz
-No one of them interested to do something to deal with these factors
-So that,it does not have the slightest hope whatsoever for the
occurrence of a great psychiatrist in the field of sz now or in the future

=To sum,he is a person who speaks a lot,while he knows a little bit
=The limits of his knowledge about sz does not exceed the scope of
diagnosis the symptoms

The question:
Why psychiatry fail to accomplish real knowledge, understanding, explanation
or even correct treatment for the case that so-called schizophrenia ?

I don’t know, I’ve never had one that I would call great. They have all been good but not great.

The world needs a new generation of young scientists, not interested in
what is known, wrote or said about the schizophrenia by ancient pioneers
or the current generation of researchers

Their main goal is to reach the higher truth of the internal phenomena,
processes and events that are emitted, grow and evolve within the
the psychological world of the schizophrenics individuals

Must reject all current titles, concepts, definitions, descriptions and
interpretations, then work to reformulate the details of that knowledge
in accordance with the internal phenomena, processes and events

Words like: schizophrenia-mental illness-chronic disease- disorder
symptoms-treatment-cure-medication-chemical imbalance-
hallucination-illusion-delusion -positive and negative symptoms…etc

the common or specific concept of these words contributed to reprint
a wrong facts in the mind of people about the real nature of sz case
and its cause and the personal characteristics of the schizophrenic

One that has a sense of humor and doesn’t take everything I say literally.

let’s be realistic
The psychiatrist is the person who responsible for the care of
schizophrenic individuals, especially in the early stage of sz,and
keep track of their conditions.

The bottom line
He is responsible for the PROTECTION of biological life and mental
of the schizophrenics during the height of sz events {not me or you
or family members / friends or community individuals }

In most of cases,he succeeds in achieving this.
But,the treatment of the disease, remove the causes and occurrence
of healing are impossible things to accomplish whatever the
therapeutic means, because there no organic disease in the main nature
of the schizophrenic !

When a researcher looking for causes of the schizophrenia,
always ending his research to adapt virtual world of the causes
that can not be verified in the real world or else

It’s pure fantasies,expectations,estimates or assumptions
-What is surprising that he treats his patients on the background
of these fantasies !

The result:No one heals from schizophrenia

one that gives hope when in despair

My last psychiatrist did all the talking - she was not a great listener. My current psychiatrist listens to me and then she will ask me questions, she is more engaged than my last pdoc. Lately I think she has been getting annoyed by me - she does not like my concerns - she takes them as complaints - she does not like her patients complaining too much it seems.
Hey if I am not feeling well, I am going to let my pdoc know - Some pdocs like to prescribe meds and only want to hear positive feedback - this seems unrealistic

My psychiatrist is almost none of the mentioned and spends little time with patients usually but is known to be one of top guys out there. My recovery started with him after two failing attempts with two other Dr’s who misdiagnosed me.
