Young children

Who here has young children? How have you dealt with raising them with your illness? I have a 17 month year old and have been acting as a stay at home mom for the past two and a half months and it’s been hard but I love my son to pieces.

I have 5 kids at home, their older sister has her own place. I don’t know how I did it or still do it. You just keep getting up and swimming through the day. Can’t give up unless you want to give them to someone else or screw them up. I’m lucky that I have a good spouse and father to the kids who takes over completely when I am hospitalized.

I have a 2 year old. I don’t really know how I do it. I just wake up and do what I have to do. Some days are harder than others but I keep pushing because she’s worth it. I’m lucky to have a very supportive husband.

I have a brother who is 17 years plus younger than I am. Therefore, when I was 24 years old and sick with schizophrenic, I moved back into my parents house as a domestic. They called me “Cinderfella”.

I never married, but I was not denied parenting all together because I was so involved in my brother’s raising.

When my kids were little my now ex husband was at home and i was working. He refused to do anything like shopping, deal with the school.(My oldest has Tourettes and autism and adhd) so dealing with the school and Drs, and medical appts. But home stuff he did. Around that time I completely fell apart. But it just seems being with my kids has always been so natural and calming. The older they get the more fun it is. I would say I was a pretty laid back mom other than the one very important rule. No screaming. I have noise sensitivities.
