so in the past my mom had recommended I get a life coach. I brushed it off as something a women would consider. am I wrong? would you use one? any personal experiences good or bad?
This is tough to answer. If, after listening to the life coach, I agree with them, then yes I would take it on board or at least try but that doesn’t mean I’ll agree to everything.
I feel sometimes with someone like me for example, they’d be useful. I sometimes know the answer but just need that little kick. if you know what i mean.
I haven’t. I don’t have a coach. But in life in general, when I ask for advice, I always know the answer but I just need someone to tell me… to give me that little push… Like take your meds, for example…
Yes, sometimes we need people to tell us what we already know. But friends and family can do that. Almost anyone can do it. A coach is just someone who gives you the answers you already know in a way that really motivates you. At least temporarily. Kind of like those pyramid schemes people. They know how to blow things up and make them seem great.
If you’re just bummed out and need a quick fix to feel better, I could see how it would work. If you have actual problems, I don’t think it would help much.
that reminds me of the last time i was in the hospital. i met a guy who said he wanted to become a life coach. then he told me he had 2 warrants in Arizona, lol. don’t know if he was joking or not.
I think they might be helpful in the same sense a personal trainer can be helpful. You know you should work out. Maybe you even get to the gym. But having an another person might be motivating and provide accountability in a way a task set on your phone can’t.
Friends and family can do that but you might become annoyed with them.
@twinklestars I would say that the main benefit of having a personal trainer,
for me at least, is not motivation and accountability but
picking the right drills and making sure the technique is good.
Yes, that is true of personal trainers. But is there a similar correct technique for other things in life? Relationships, work, I don’t know - whatever it is a life coach would help with.
I don’t have one, wouldn’t have money for a thing like that, but sounds like a mom you pay to nag you in a way that doesn’t irritate you.
Hola @twinklestars .
I believe that it is best when people’s actions stem from their own initiative.
And not from assorted “coaches”.
I believe there is no one-size-fits-all technique for stuff related to how to conduct yourself in day to day life.
Different people have different characters and different goals and different genes and different sets of environmental circumstances.
and if you want to give advice, it has to be tailored to the individual.
I know myself well, I don’t need a coach.
There are website for free online consulting if you are short on money and feel that you need advice.
