Worst place you ever lived?

My father is military and I’ve moved around a lot.

I’ve lived in a lot of ■■■■ towns and cities.

There are some serious contenders,

But I think Dallas, TX and all of Florida are the worst.

How about you?

Did you live in a terrible city we should all avoid?

I currently live in South Florida, and I ■■■■■■■ hate it. I used to live in LA, and before that, NYC. Those were good.

Brussels, Belgium.

Oh man, Florida just is the worst.

Sorry you’re there.

I lived in the panhandle close to Alabama,

So it was rough too.

I’ve lived in the same town and house my whole life. I’m 43. My town is considered one of the nicer places in the province. My family is middle class and we live in the older section of town, but it is still nice, there are some very wealthy neighbourhoods around here though. I’m happy here.

Curious about this one. My friend lived there for 3 years and i visited her once. Only spent a few days but I had a lot of fun. I can speak pretty decent French and passible Flemish though.

Not all of Belgium, just the Brussels part. It’s lawless. The police don’t care. Everyone I knew was a victim of crime, including me.

But there’s a general feeling of “I don’t care” from the police, restaurant staff, street sweepers, you name it.

Oh. Yeah, I did run into this a bit. Sort of worked in my favor though as I was not the most law abiding citizen in the universe. Would probably bug me now, since I’ve grown up a bit.

I hated living in the city of Detroit. Not the suburbs, but the city itself.

I lived in a pub in the town centre and it was hell.

Outskirts of the town is ok though

Some rough areas to watch out for, but nothing serious these days

Would never live in the centre of a place again.

Literally my apartment is right on the border edge of the town but 5 mins for train and bus links - with easy access to main roads out

Ideal

Brussels is lawless. A lot of Flemish people work in Brussels and commute back to Flanders. I was one of them, leaving the city at night for the locals. But everyone has a different cup of tea. My sister has an apartment in Brussels and likes it there. But we fundamentally differ. I like playing by the rules and she doesn’t, so BXL is a perfect match for her.

My dad was military too, and we moved about every four years. As far as the worst place I’ve lived, it’s a toss-up between where we lived after my dad left which was the low rentals, and my last house that I just moved out of a few years ago. It was a great Street when I bought the house, but the crack houses moved in and it went downhill fast

Hands down it has to be Seattle for me. That city is like one big garbage dump.

The people there are stuck up, it’s impossible to make friends, heroin and meth everywhere, HUGE homeless problem, and it rains 70% of the year.

The worst place I ever “lived” (I was only there for 9 weeks) was top rack at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL (USN). It was the worst because there was a wasp nest on the overhead, and the wasps kept buzzing and crawling on my face. I wasn’t going to tell the CC about it. I didn’t sleep for 3 days (I passed out from exhaustion).

I’ve lived on Long Island, NY (I liked it). After that I spent a year in Pensacola, Fl. (was your dad there @GoldenRex ?)( NAS Pensacola) on the USS Lexington (AVT-16) (1982-83). In 1992, I moved to the Tampa Bay Area (I like it).

Worst place I ever lived was in a home that was converted into a multi family complex in the downtown area of a midsized, Midwestern city. Talk about ghetto!! In my living unit, there were mice, cockroaches and spiders in armies. Literally. I didn’t stay there long. As soon as I graduated college, I moved out.

Oh, um well I was homeless and desperate and an ex-boyfriend’s parents took me in for a few months. They lived in the east bay, Pittsburg California. It was scary. I was 16. So we’re talking nearly 40 years ago and there were drugs, gangs and graffiti even back then. The town was filthy and they had a peat mine that had caught on fire that they couldn’t get out and so on top of the horrible smog we had to endure the peat smoke. It was awful.

Worst place I lived in was in my university students housing. Cracked walls, spiders everywhere, no AC too hot, etc I only stayed there for one day and I paid monthly, they didn’t even refund me.

Correct!

We were stationed there four years.

Got to see the Blue Angels a lot.

We were there late 90s.

this is the worst place i’ve ever lived, can’t go for walks because of busy highway, restaurants suck, maybe i’ll go to subway haha? grocery store doesn’t have anything i need, unless i want to live off pork and mac and cheese, so it’s a commute to a decent grocery store, jobs pay less and work is exploited, other than that i like the farms and the friendly people but this place sucks, and im stuck here. also no night life or anything, cover bands and country music on the radio. and the only people we attract are gamblers coming to the casino
