@77nick77 Thanks for such an inspiring post
@CEME88 Welcome to the forum! Yes I have worked, but not currently, I started getting treatment on antipsychotics at 16, and diagnosed at 18 due to insurance reasons. I never had a full time job though
I work and have done for the last 6 years.
After diagnosis I had a break for 6 months, but I then realised not working was making me worse.
It’s important to have focus.
I left my last job on disability as of January 2015. I wasn’t on the right meds then and was calling out too much. Finally going at all became too much so I agreed to go on disability.
Fast forward to now and I am stable on Zyprexa/Lexapro/Lamictal. I am looking for work as an accounting clerk and looking forward to getting off disability. I can’t handle a really stressful job so I am hoping to find something where there is a good routine. So far I’ve applied for two different full time jobs but I look every day at all my websites.
I started working again since January and so far I have enjoyed it. You get to meet new people and it gives you something to do with your spare time. My job is pretty stress free though, I am mostly driving around listening to the radio. If you are asking for advice I would say with sz you have to put your well-being first, and how you go about that is up to you.
I am also on the zyprexa, lexapro and lamictal combination. I’m not perfect, but stable. Doc thinks I can stock shelves 15 hours a week. We’ll see.
I prefer to think of it as having schizophrenia while working.
It’s more positive that way.
I have paranoid schizophrenia, and I’ve had two jobs since being diagnosed. They were tough on me, I couldn’t handle the stress/workload. Finding a job with low stress is my next goal. Some stress is okay, and there’s no job out there with no stress. Just gotta find the right balance
