Working too much

Is there something with Schizophrenia about working to much on a job. It seems I needs a lot of time to decompress. I have picked up an extra day of work and so I am working 6 days a week.

Moved to School and Work.

Try not to stress yourself too much, working is great and it can do a lot of good for the mind, keeping you busy, but there is such a thing as burn out, so be careful.

So, hey @minnii mod eh? Congrats! I approve wholeheartedly!!!

Topic. Yes. I have been working my ass off for about 8 months now @ 40hrs a week. It hasn’t been easy. Every day I wake up with anxiety and struggle with delusions that are unsubstantiated…as I drive to work (30 mins) I work through multiple conversations that haven’t occurred and situations that are unlikely to occur.

I work closely with about 10 people daily. I work 10hrs a day. For 2.5 of those hours I am trapped in a small room that is very quiet with one other person. That one person rotates from day to day. For the first 3 months I did not talk (for the most part.)

As time went by I learned their personality and learned how to speak to them. I divulged to a few of them my disorder was pleasantly surprised to learn they were very accepting of me and my ‘perceived’ silence.

As I realized that I was an accepted peer I started to divulge my previous experience and what I could offer the company. I caught the attention of a supervisor that took me under his wing and referred me to an engineering position. The position opens in December. He has introduced me to the engineering team and management and I believe it will be a good fit.

My family told me I’d never work again.

Regardless of what happens in December, I feel great about today…

Yes, everyday is exhausting. But very rewarding.

Follow your treatment plan. Know your limits but don’t limit yourself.

Best of luck @Breeze!!!

Six days is a little too much. Have a good sleep and physical exercises can help to release stress.

Thank you animalchin  How are you?

In the long run working to much has always worn be down and sent me back to the gutter, horrid circle really,

take it easy guys, dont over exert yourselves, take your time and just enjoy being able to work,

you are very lucky as most people with this severe disabling illness like sz cannot really do much which isnt their fault, i would encourage hope and understanding on both sides,

i hope people who are worse off can get a little better and we can all reach our optimum potentials
