my in laws put me to work, they had me carry wood from their daughter’s tree house, pull weeds around the pool, stack chairs, shovel mulch and then lay it out between the two houses. I feel tired, my ankle is sore and they have more chores for me tomorrow. I think they just see my partner and I as free labor.
dang no dinner from the work even.
no they did let me grab some pizza for my partner.
No, I am talking homemade full course dinner for both of you…
When my partner is home they invite us to dinner but when she is at work I am pretty much ignored and they save some food for kay when she comes home.
I think I’d stay away from the inlaws…
some times I have no choice, they expect me to work around the house and yard. now the want me to start paying money to their little girl since kay and I are techinically in what use to be her playroom. we were giving her 5 dollars a month now she wants more. she gets 30 dollars every two weeks from kay’s dad for doing nothing. she doesn’t clean up after her dogs, she doesn’t feed them except table scraps. I have nothing against the kid I love her like a little sister but when I was a kid we weren’t given money to do nothing. ironic how i’m now given money for doing nothing besides being disabled,
can’t you just refuse to help? what’s this about them not feeding you??? honestly I would just go to my mom’s if I was you. Kay must be one special person for you to suffer so much for her!
I’m with @jukebox on this… You need to put yourself as a priority, you’re not some housemaid or an object to be used.
Ugh, I get so pissed with your in-laws
Do you pay rent to them?
@jukebox and @Minnii I stay because I love kay, she promised as soon as she gets her license we are out of here but its just taking a while to get her permit since her mom wants her to wait for some odd reason. I think she likes kay having to rely on her stepmom and dad.
they kind of fed me yesterday with some pork chops and a baked potato. that was the only meal I was given
yes @anon31257746 I pay them rent I pay them 605 and my partner pays 100.
@cbbrown WHAT!? Did I read that right? you pay $605 and kay pays $100 for one room the old playroom? and no food
They are taking advantage of you for sure! I’d say $400 with meals would be fine but that is overboard.
And if you are paying rent, you shouldn’t have to do all that other crap for them or be expected to do so - you can do it to be nice but not because you have to - They are taking advantage big time
Come to think of it, I’ve got a bag of anvils and a few cartons of bowling balls. I was hoping @cbbrown could visit me here in Canada, and help me move them to the back shed!
Seriously, @cbbrown this situation is unnacceptable, you deserve better than this. Get a grip on the situation and leave that place!
If you can find me 400 with meals I’ll take it!!!
@cbbrown that is a bit much for 1 room . I do a room share here at 525. But I don’t have to do yard work.
If I was at my parents it would be 525 and I’d have to do yard work. Take garbage to the dump. Clean inside the house etc. … that’s just how family is.
Atleast you get a good workout doing it
maybe we don’t charge my brother-in-law enough…hmmmm…
he has a room of his own, a living room of his own, cable, internet, phone, food, all for that.
