Will it hurt if I go 3 days without meds

I ran out of them. It’s clozapine if that matters

if it’s an antipsychotic call your pharmacy or doctor and get the med for a few days.

What would happen

You don’t know. Maybe nothing, maybe something.

You can have a flare up of symptoms once med half life is lapsed without new drug in your system

this is my second night of not taking it
So far nothing

I’m not an expert but it takes time for your neurochemistry to go back to a disordered state even after half-life lapses. It will happen when you run out of meds, so you should be aware of the time it takes you to relapse into symptoms. But don’t wait to find out. Get more meds.

When I stopped paliperidone I was relapsing in weeks.

I’m too scared to start taking it again

I know it makes you feel weak and having health insecurity, but it is an approved drug by a compassionate health ministry. You will have side-effects, but you will live a long life. Perhaps not as long or as healhy as you would be without illness, but you have illness.

I don’t really get what you’re saying

Psychotic illness will eventually take its toll on your health as well. You will not be able to function normally, and your health will suffer without meds.

When I don’t take olanzapine I get nausea and then I start vomiting.

Don’t know how it’s with clozapine??

Longest I’ve been without was three days. I also stop sleeping which is an indicator that I’m on my path to looneywille!

Yeah, same here. So I know I’m about to go crazy when it happens.

Ask your pharmacy for a partial refill. Quitting cold turkey is terrible for your body.

The relapses are worse after medication. Not for everyone, but it has always been that way for some. Med compliance is really the only option. What’s worse is with relapses, the potential for brain damage from more severe psychoses could irreversibly worsen your situation.

Your pharmacy will give you a set amount of emergency medication. The half life of a med determines how long it takes for the body to be totally free of it, and it varies from med to med. I think, with clozapine, if you miss like 4-5 days, you have to titrate up again from the lowest dose and go back to weekly blood tests if you’re on monthly tests. You are playing with fire and it’s not gonna end well…i speak from experience.

I’ve been reading more about the integration disorder theory, as even resistance to the process of getting a person to adhere to treatment is symptomatic of schizophrenia. Don’t doubt that your noncompliance is not symptoms.

Despite what they say, it’s a rare person with schizophrenia who can function without meds.
You’re not doing yourself any favors by going off and on meds. Just take them as prescribed and if the side effects get too bad, ask your doc if you can try a different med. It’s more scary to go without meds.
