Is it a spectrum though?
I see it more like the spectrum thing they often do with the autism spectrum…not sure how you call such…
Hm. Actually. That the DSM is nonsensical is clear to me.
But I am terrified to think they would drug even more people, with slight psychotic symptoms, which are normal human experiences. And do not need pills. If they use the spectrum thinking to treat everyone like that: please no.
I think…what we now call schizophrenia, is many disorders. A celiac with a psychiatric presentation, a traumatized person and someone with a brain disorder can now all be labeled schizophrenic…when maybe they need a diet, a safe situation and therapy, and pills, respectively.
Maybe psychiatry should go back to very plain labels - depression, anxiety, psychosis. Then add mild/moderate/severe. And spend a lot more time looking into the real causes. And treating those. Rather than fuzzing over non-existent diagnoses (is it bipolar with psychosis or sza?!), but give everyone pills anyway.
What do you personally think?
I tend to view schizophrenia exist on a spectrum, as there seems to be a difference between range of symptoms and severity and no singular uniform experience of psychosis, cognitive and negatives.
Finding Sz.com has really exposed me to a lot of my own misconception about SZ and how everyone has such a different experience from mine and others I can completely relate to.
I think most mental health conditions are on a spectrum. Everyone has different symptoms that impact them to different degrees and at different frequencies. I think it’s probably better to think of it like a spectrum because then you can actually focus more on the symptoms rather than if everything fits neatly into a label
Can someone define spectrum
Yea some days I’m normal crazy some days I’m super crazy. That’s a spectrum right
Like a scale or Slider I imagine it as…
That your not either schizophrenic or not but that there’s a variety of positions in between
I have some delusion that i perceave better than normal thoughts then forgot. When im in the forget area i get mood swings that i cant control for an 1 hour.
