So I have surfed facebook a lot and find the same arguments normies saying that antidepressants zombifies people and makes them dysfunctional, bet they dont realize that most antidepressants are stimulants? They also complain about xanax, even though is a life saving medicine in a lot of panic attack or paranoia attack cases.
I think if a depressed person goes to a psychiatrist the first pill should be a placebo.
I’ve been on 2 antidepressants. Paxil and Effexor, I didn’t really find either all that helpful, they numbed the depression a little bit but didn’t make me happy. The withdrawals were also brutal.
I haven’t tried Xanax, but I have tried ativan for anxiety and am currently on clonazepam for insomnia. I don’t have problem with using benzos PRN, but I’ve been on 1.5mg of clonazepam for about 4-5 months so I am probably dependent on it now, I don’t like that, but I need it to sleep.
I strongly disagree. This was done to me and it totally shattered my trust in the psychiatric system. If they had treated me properly, I would have gotten my psychosis treated sooner and I probably wouldn’t be in the mess that I’m in today
How do you know they gave you a placebo? They shouldn’t have told you.
They did not tell me, I figured it out. If someone is chronically depressed and suicidal and has been for years, the first response should not be to brush them off. It should be to give them the help they need, when they need it
Thats illegal if true. You can make money.
I’ve had a couple people tell me that. Honestly it’s so far in the past now that it’s probably not even worth pursuing
Normies in FB boast about how crazy they are
because they take Xanax etc.
Lol they don’t knkw what real crazy is
Actually I kinda take that back. There’s a lot of self harmers etc out there who have been though a lot of stuff
My favorite is when normies boast about being crazy without having any mental health issues at all
I’m like, oh, you’re crazy are you?? Let me tell you what the voices have been telling me lately
We’re in the big leagues
Hell yeah

I’ve been on Celexa, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Xanax, Zoloft, Effexor, and one more that I’m not remembering, before I finally landed on Prozac, which is working wonders.
At one point I was on 375mg Effexor, and it did nothing.
In my experience it’s just like with APs, it’s a total guessing game until you find the one that works
Cymbalta was the other one
Glad to hear it!
I was depressed for a long time, I was on Effexor for over a decade, it numbed the depression but didn’t make me happy. However my depression faded a few years ago so I quit it and I feel pretty good now.
That’s totally fair. One of my best friends has debilitating, crippling anxiety. I feel really bad for her, it really affects her life.
I have another really good friend who went through some pretty horrific abuse/neglect in her childhood and she’s a chronic self harmer.
Tho, I wouldn’t count either of them as being normies
Oh yay good glad to hear! Depression sucks
Antidepressants don’t really make a person happy. It’s been my experience that antidepressants simply make happiness a possibility. If you expect them to make you happy you’ll be disappointed every time, for sure.
All the APs I’ve tried have worked. Just some have had awful side effects. None of the ADs I’ve tried did anything.
