Didn’t read the whole thing, but I definitely feel news can make some people more neurotic if over-consumed, including myself.
I avoid it a lot. I try to tell my partner to take it in doses because he gets really anxious and depressed with it too
I avoid watching news too
It makes me anxious and sad
Last time my sister said to me about the French streamer death on Kik I didn’t feel well, I thought I was gonna faint so much it affected me
(I think I’m hypersensitive)
Politicians make up facts and different organizations make up facts to prove they’re doing a good job. It should be illegal.
I did this a long time ago
It has really helped separating from all the noise
The 24 hour a day news cycle is tragedy after tragedy
Is there not any good in the world?
They really have their priorities skewed to depressing shite
I’ve had to quit nearly completely since that orange … thing … was elected down south. The news seems to get worse every time I look and the progress is not logarithmic, it’s geometric. I don’t need the additional anxiety.
I don’t think I’ve watched the news since Obama gave his Acceptance speech. Seriously. I just up and quit around that time. I think all news is just as depressing as heck.
You can’t imagine the shame that comes with living in the country that elected it.
I try and limit my news, but always feel better when I avoid it. Too depressing
I have not being paying attention to the news lately. It tends to go in cycles with me. Every once in awhiile i get involved. Lately I’ve been tuning out.
Edit : It probably helps that we would have to buy a new antenna to get antenna channels. We only have free streaming , Disney plus and hulu atm. I have to actively seek it out on the internet or streaming in order to find it.
I’ve had to do the same, it’s draining and best to avoid echo chambers for it.![]()
I’ve found myself to be more empathetic ignoring the news. I still read it but don’t take it seriously. I mostly read it out of sheer boredom.
I feel like this would be the reaction if aliens were invading and everyone outside was dying. Oh no, politics is happening, better turn on something else.
When “politics” is happening in many cities all over the world in a way that changes daily life significantly, it becomes harder to omit from conversation as if it doesn’t exist. It’s just the way things are.
I try to limit youtube. There are so many videos on their feed with horrible stuff. Even when I only watch videos of my own interest strange youtube videos pop up on my feed.
