I dont understant why I can get good grades full time in university while I was on Abilify but couldn’t hold a job for more than a month. Doesn’t doing good in university means being better at handling real life work?
I found real life work easier than university
There’s a whole bunch of people who argue that university can be too theoretical and have little resemblance to the actual work you need to do in a job in that field.
I don’t think its true of all degrees, but sometimes its true.
Is it possible you just didn’t get settled in your new job? Where as being a student is much easier to comprehend and actually do as you aren’t constantly on the firing line?
Maybe it was too much workload for someone who was new?
These are all guesses of course, but I wouldn’t write yourself off entirely. Maybe a different vacancy would work out for you instead.
Maybe I have worse negative symptoms than cognitive symptoms?
I rage quit over 10 jobs bcz I get bored easily. In university there is always new info to learn so I guess that makes it less boring or more likely its my negative symptoms that are worse than my cognitive symptoms
education has little to do with work ethic i think, i guess it depends on if the job is rewarding or not, which is why most people go to university in the first place, to get a good job. but i found work to be easier than university. i know a lot of people who make good money after 2 years at a technical college, didn’t study any of the social sciences or anything, just got good at a trade and started their own business. one guy who quoted dad to do his drywall, said he makes 200k usd a year and owns 4 homes, all paid off, and he rents 3 of them out. doesn’t take a genius to hang drywall, just hard work, and a little luck.
also university is supportive environment, work from my experience is not, demanding and sometimes employees are replaceable.
everybody tells you how great you are when you’re a student, then you go to the workforce and management is hit or miss.
Apart from volunteering to go round the wards with the hospital library which lasted about a week, and a short spell washing up in a hotel my wife and I were staying in, I’ve not worked.
Since being hospitalised from my public school, the term I was due to take A levels, the only studying I’ve was about 2-3 months doing a history A level correspondence course. I got nowhere near getting to university.
